Phoenix (free) 04:53
That alabaster mask you wear Anger hiding in your stare Burning you from deep inside Fire where the dark things hide So you flee the candlelight Illumination burning bright Revealing welts of hate and fear As you hold your poison dear Phoenix rise, ashes fall No one hears your lies at all Phoenix rise, shadows flee From your poison I am free Phoenix rise, burning bright Dawn to end the darkest night Twisted branches scrape the sky Reach for me as I fly by Rooted deep in earth grown dark What you harbor left a mark And those with eyes to see can tell Your pretty face is but a shell Till you let your anger go Nothing good will ever grow Phoenix rise, ashes fall No one hears your lies at all Phoenix rise, shadows flee From your poison I am free Phoenix rise, burning bright Dawn to end the darkest night Cancer eating at your soul Once a heart, now a hole Till you calm the flames within Envy is your deadly sin Phoenix rise, ashes fall No one hears your lies at all Phoenix rise, shadows flee From your poison I am free Phoenix rise, burning bright Dawn to end the darkest night

A thousand, thousand dreams are burning Troubled sleepers restless turning Fingers of a poison mist Wrapping neck and leg and wrist Insidious and oh, so still Shadowmen set out to kill Independent thoughts and dreams No one hears the muffled screams In our weakness and our dread We hide our faces from the dead In our weakness and our fear None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here And falling, falling tumbled down All our dreams begin to drown Alexandria is lost Weeping prophets know the cost We did not fight, we did not learn What we lose when our books burn Wrapped in chains of hate and fear None but shadows will dwell here In our weakness and our dread We hide our faces from the dead In our weakness and our fear None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here None but shadows will dwell here Shadow, shadow on the moon Tells us death is coming soon Shadow, shadow on the sun End of all the we've begun Shadow, shadow in the night Putting out what's left of light Shadow, shadow on the moon Tells us death is coming soon Shadow, shadow on the sun End of all the we've begun Shadow, shadow in the night Putting out what's left of light From our weakness and our dread All our hopes and dreams are dead From our weakness and our fear None but shadows now dwell here None but shadows now dwell here None but shadows now dwell here None but shadows now dwell here None but shadows now dwell here

What We Sow 03:15
A seed takes root in crimson ground Growing on the sorrow found We water it with blood and fear Tendrils straining to break clear Flower of hate Growing strong Feeds upon Our bloody wrong Burning stars, raining down Feed the seed beneath the ground It grows in anger, digging deep While we the gardner are asleep Flower of hate Growing strong Feeds upon Our bloody wrong That seed bears flower, red and black And thorns are sharpened to attack And now there is no hope to right The life we poisoned in the night Flower of hate Growing strong Feeds upon Our bloody wrong That flower drops seeds of its own If this pain is all they're shown Then red and black will spread and grow The only flower we will know Flower of hate Growing strong Feeds upon Our bloody wrong

Vines grow long Thorns grow sharp Glass flowers cut And leave a mark Trip and tear Rip and burn You poisoned us Now it's your turn We are shattered mirrors Fragments of the truth Bitter bits of broken glass Begging for some proof And in this fun house all the mirrors crash into the floor We don't want to catch the light of liars anymore Can we have the cure now The poison runs so deep And these shards of broken glass Will cut you in your sleep Try to tame this glassy garden Force us to your plan Just beware of your time there We'll cut you if we can And spill your blood on roots grown weak And hungry for the rain And these shattered flowers Will feed upon your pain Can we have the cure now The poison runs so deep And these shards of broken glass Will cut you in your sleep Vines grow long Thorns grow sharp Glass flowers cut And leave a mark Trip and tear Rip and burn You poisoned us Now it's your turn How I miss the sunlight How I miss the rain How I miss the fertile Earth Come to life again Overthrow the darkness That spreads across our land Cut the poison, make it bleed Destroy it if you can Can we have the cure now The poison runs so deep And these shards of broken glass Will cut you in your sleep Vines grow long Thorns grow sharp Glass flowers cut And leave a mark Trip and tear Rip and burn You poisoned us Now it's your turn

Burning 04:55
They pass their hate down the line Hand to hand through place and time Like torches burning in the night To hide the stars with bloody light Smoke from their fiery brands Burning faces, burning hands Cross aflame Our nation's shame These innocents, fear's virgin brides Who might have seen through open eyes Will see hatred's flame instead And will see it till they're dead Intolerance gone before Rains down upon the nursery door Cross aflame Our nation's shame This burning lie This flame of hate Bring us to Destruction's gate And race and sex and age and creed Tinder for the flames to feed And stars and bars and Nazi flag Are the weights that we now drag Intolerance and hatred deep Creeping in while babies sleep I smell the smoke, flames raining down Burning up both field and town And if this spreads the whole world round It will burn us to the ground

PTSD 05:15
What is it we have become Babies raised living by the gun Walking now with deadened eyes Trained to kill and fueled by lies Adrenaline surge, tighten my grip I feel the scales start to tip Mental wasteland, my thoughts burn free Eyes wide open, nothing to see White knuckle, black out The world comes down White knuckle, black out No hope to be found White knuckle, black out Screaming without sound White knuckle, black out As I hit the ground Thoughts that haunt like the past Unconscious oblivion, solace at last Forgotten souls, alone in the sand Cursed is the brotherly band White knuckle, black out The world comes down White knuckle, black out No hope to be found White knuckle, black out Screaming without sound White knuckle, black out As I hit the ground Eternal nightmare if you survived No one said it's easier to be alive Now I'm out, the real army of one My war has ended, Hell has begun

Cassandra 04:15
You could say I didn't warn you You could say you didn't know Of the poison in the water How the trees won't grow Of the melting of the ice caps And the rising of the sea Of the species that we kill To make more space for you and me Why are we so blind Why are we so blind Why are we Why are we so blind The oil that fuels your engines I know it's running out You'll just ignore these words Proceed without a doubt Then the day dawns dark You cannot find respite From the damage that you've done You cannot make it right Why are we so blind Why are we so blind Why are we Why are we so blind You know the wisdom's out there To free us from this coil But we undercut the funding To maintain slavery to oil Now when we lose it all There's nothing left to save You do not learn from your mistakes Slowly dig our grave So I am Cassandra With a glass rose in my hand Trying to stop the fall Of this experiment called man Why are we so blind Why are we so blind Why are we Why are we so blind

Shadows all begin to grow Living water stops its flow As all now tumble into sleep Summer's secret there to keep Hail to Queen of ice and snow Hail the Goddess of the cold Now the dancer in the night Shows herself in the moonlight Ivory her hair and skin Pale eyes drink the forest in Hail to Queen of ice and snow Hail the Goddess of the cold Freeze us there in shining glass As the Goddess dances past Lightly dance from home to hall Winter dances for us all Hail to Queen of ice and snow Hail the Goddess of the cold

Soma 03:48
There's nothing to see here No one to blame No crime was committed Let things stay the same Ignore the shadow on the wall The chalk lines on the street If we want to have our peace You must be discreet A brave new world Drowning in the rain A brave new world Hiding from the pain Just tune in and turn off Doubts in your mind They'll tell you the truth Perceived by the blind So face the light and sound on screen The glitter finds its mark And if you hear the siren song You will not see the dark A brave new world Drowning in the rain A brave new world Hiding from the pain A brave new world Drowning in the rain A brave new world Hiding from the pain In this brave new world Obedience makes you free A brave new world Where submission is the key A brave new world If you can swallow all the lies A brave new world If you cover up your eyes A brave new world Drowning in the rain A brave new world That feeds on silent pain

Wild 06:10
Here the wild things still run free Leaf and vine surrounding me Here the old ones still can breathe Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Leaf and vine fight brick and stone Air and water poison see Wild ones, old ones overthrown Late at night they call to me Four legs fights just to survive Two legs just can't let them be Bear and deer no more can thrive Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me One by one the wild things fall No more places to run free We destroy them one and all Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Can we stop before it ends Nature's balance still we seek Can this broken world now mend Late at night She calls to me Calls to me, She calls to me Late at night, She calls to me Calls to me, She calls to me Late at night She calls to me Here the wild things still run free Leaf and vine surrounding me Here the old ones still can breathe Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me Call to me, they call to me Late at night they call to me

about

The politically charged and socially conscious tone of their debut full-length album, ' Of Patriots and Tyrants ', is Cassandra Syndrome's homage to their namesake. Cassandra, the famed seeress who foresaw the fall of Troy, was cursed by the God Apollo so that no one would believe her cautionary visions. To have Cassandra Syndrome is to share Cassandra's fate—to see a dark future yet be unable to convince others of the truth.

The dark, heavy hammer laid down by Chris Kackley on guitar, Joe Cariola on bass and Jay Jericho on drums sets the stage for this intimate theater of darkness and seduction. However, it was the sinister aria of Irene Jericho which inspired renowned mixing engineer Tim Greencorn (Feist, the Stars) to take on the project.

In a desperate attempt to break Cassandra's curse, Cassandra Syndrome has created a passionate plea with 'Of Patriots and Tyrants' that all fans of unique, inspired music should heed.
