Just another body Nothing new to see One more life now broken In the street No more peace forever Just more blood to stain the earth And flow down to the sea Just another nameless face Another you or me No more peace No more peace No more peace Forever Growing like a wave of red Ripples ever spreading Inner city, foreign land Bodies never ending No more peace forever One more falls to knife or gun One more roadside bomb One more fight, one more war More bodies to embalm No more peace No more peace No more peace Forever Earth grows red in one more place A ruby patchwork quilt We do not see the pattern In the stitches of our kills Meaningless within the hour Calloused hearts move on Screaming falls on deafened ears Attention now withdrawn No more peace forever Earth grows red in one more place A ruby patchwork quilt We do not see the pattern In the stitches of our kills No more peace No more peace No more peace Forever

Hell on earth is here today Swirling sand and dying trees And there is no other way People living on their knees Atrocity too harsh to bear Barefoot children in the road Meeting the accusing stare Looking up from heavy load Hell on Earth in the sand Hell on Earth, forsaken land Glaring sun beating down Burning sand beneath your feet Bleeding dry the little town Withering in hellish heat Hell on Earth in the sand Hell on Earth, forsaken land Hell on Earth in the sand Hell on Earth, forsaken land Look away from suffering Pretend it’s just a dream Return to your climate control Ignore the cries and screams Allow the gap twixt rich and poor To blossom, fatten and to grow And soon this hell outside your door Will live within forever more Desert flowers wilt and fall Hand to mouth and then to grave And the lie above it all Sky of blue, no one saved Hell on Earth in the sand Hell on Earth, forsaken land

The Fool 04:19
Let me fall into the sky Take a chance and tumble high Lift my feet from this dark road Toss aside the heavy load Just this once To be free I will play the Fool for me Break the glass that holds me in Shatter endings to begin Kiss my fear and set it free Watch it fly away from me Just this once To be free I will play the Fool for me Smash the pattern, burn the maze No more shadow on my days Break the chain and sever ties Free me from these wicked lies Just this once To be free I will play the Fool for me Just this once To be strong I will find where I belong Just this once Just tonight I will change the dark to light I will play the Fool for me I will play the Fool for me All the time I had the key Hidden deep inside of me And at last I take the chance Take a breath and join the dance I will play the Fool for me I will play the Fool for me
4.
The Magus 03:37
When was it you turned away? Shut yourself in tower high Up above the troubled fray Let our turmoil pass you by Corrupted by indifference Complacent behind tower walls Avoiding this experience As our world begins to fall Impassive Uncaring guardian Reclusive So blind Where is the Magus Where the charm Where the power to hold back harm Where is the Magus What incantation Can save us from annihilation Once the beacon in the night You stopped our fall from grace Your words carried with great might Yet now you hide your face Impassive Uncaring guardian Reclusive So blind Where is the Magus Where the charm Where the power to hold back harm Where is the Magus What incantation Can save us from annihilation No power, no shield, No refuge from hell No wand, no weapon, No breaking the spell
5.
Shackles 04:52
It's a bad night for dreams Everything is as it seems Reflection of my haunted eyes Window to all I despise Lip service to ideals Locked inside this broken wheel Draw it in to heal the pain Forget it in the falling rain We all feed the machine Buying up a twisted dream Wallow in these shallow toys Signal turning into noise Where has all our outrage been Bread and Circus lured us in We all feed the machine Buying up a twisted dream It's our own chains that bind us Our own bars that break us Rhinestone shackles on our wrists Decorate these bloody fists We all feed the machine Buying up a twisted dream
6.
Poison Rain 05:34
This is not the promised land This is not the dream we had Intolerance now glowing bright Where hope once shed the only light This is not the promised land This is not the dream we had This is not the promised land This is not the dream Poison rain Bonds of love so brittle now Parents children disavow Hatred blooming where love grew Scripture drowning out what’s true This is not the promised land This is not the dream we had This is not the promised land This is not the dream Poison rain Ethics masked by mumbled verse Twisting blessing into curse Preaching love but teaching hate Bigotry all we create Poison rain Children lie awake and weep Try to bury nature deep We ignore their tragic cries To focus on a book of lies Poison rain Rain

Play the Priestess Cut the veil Play the Priestess Change the tale Lying tongues fill the night Obscuring truth, wrong and right Change the channel Turn the knob Nothing different Turn it off Play the Priestess Cut the veil Play the Priestess Change the tale Play the Priestess Think, perceive Play the Priestess Do not believe Like the spread of a disease If you’re paying they will please Try another Try a new source Nothing different Nothing of course Spill the truth into the light See them spoiling for a fight Raise the banner Draw the knife Kill the tv Save your life Play the Priestess Cut the veil Play the Priestess Change the tale Play the Priestess Think, perceive Play the Priestess Do not believe They can whisper They can scream If you turn away They can’t do anything

And will it consume you The hunter of your death Draw us into darkness With your dying breath Power in the night Reaching for the Stone Obscuring what is right Leaving all you’ve known This is what you wanted To walk the endless night This is what you wanted A world away from light This is what you wanted An ever empty grave This is what you wanted Darkness shackled slave Before the final bell The falling of the light You lead us all to hell In pursuit of night This is what you wanted To walk the endless night This is what you wanted A world away from light This is what you wanted An ever empty grave This is what you wanted Darkness shackled slave This is what you wanted To walk the endless night This is what you wanted A world away from light This is what you wanted This is what you need This is what you wanted That you seek shall devour Mind, soul and beating heart Bring us to the final hour Tear all that you love apart This is what you wanted To walk the endless night This is what you wanted A world away from light This is what you wanted An ever empty grave This is what you wanted Darkness shackled slave

Where are the ones of stone and fire Blood running hot with red desire Where are the ones of earth and sea Strong as tempests, always free We hang upon the iron cross We burn, we thirst for what we lost How our forebears must be grieved To see the yoke upon our soul How our children are deceived Believe that weakness is their role We hang upon the iron cross We burn, we thirst for what we lost We hang on the iron cross We hang on the iron cross We bow our heads and wear our chains Complicit in our own demise What part of past pride now remains Glittering in conquered eyes We hang upon the iron cross We burn, we thirst for what we lost Oh, oh the iron cross The iron cross
10.
Pestilence 05:05
Drink of hatred till we drown Gorging till we all fall down Soil splinters where we stand Lines dividing all expand Fanatic seeds now take root Seek to make all reason mute Locusts feeding on the weak Lies in every word they speak Drive the sheep to violence Bigots frothing ignorance Fragile olive branches broken By the words of hatred spoken We shall reap what we now sow Venom in the vines we grow Writhe around us in the dark Fiery death borne of this spark This pestilence Our suicide Intolerance Our cyanide This arrogance Our fatal pride This negligence Our downward slide Our downward slide Our downward slide

about

Cassandra Syndrome's 2011 sophomore release Satire X, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to 2009's critically acclaimed 'Of Patriots and Tyrants,' weaves a tapestry of feral energy and bold tones. A reference to the 'bread and circuses' of first century Satirist Juvenal, Satire X combines poignant, socially conscious lyrics, exquisite vocal melodies and masterful riffs into a metal-based call to action.

Eschewing the synthesizer-laden stereotypes of symphonic metal, Cassandra Syndrome (formed in 2005) revolutionizes the genre with a unique blend of axe-heavy melodic metal and operatic vocals. The powerful alliance of Joe Cariola's punishing bass, scathing riffs of Jen Tonon's rhythm guitar, and throbbing beats of Jay Jericho's drums create a driving ground assault which weakens your defenses before being met by the searing lead lines of guitarist Chris Kackley. Above it all, radiant as Angelic Death, the resplendent soprano of Irene Jericho soars above the battlefield.

To have Cassandra Syndrome, named for the famed Trojan seeress cursed by the Greek god Apollo, is to see a dark future yet be unable to convince others of the truth. The sonic wrath of Satire X tries to warn us of the specters haunting our steps: poverty, urban violence, misleading media, politically-sanctioned bigotry, and the military industrial complex among others. They attack the mainstream wall of willful ignorance, firing a desperate cry into the winds that all fans of exceptional, unconventional music will savor.
